World Wildlife Fund: Creating Digital Storytelling to Prevent Future Pandemics
During the height of the pandemic, I worked with the World Wildlife Fund to create an interactive digital experience that visualized the link between wildlife, ecosystems, and human health.
I led with dramatic data visualizations and somber interactive illustrations, using Sumi ink washes to heighten urgency and Petri dishes as a central motif—framing dynamic, evolving worlds within their contours. This immersive storytelling approach not only educated but also activated global audiences, surpassing WWF’s fundraising goal by 150%, generating 11,500+ donations, and earning 1M+ social media impressions.
The project’s seamless transitions and captivating animations kept viewers engaged and earned two Platinum MUSE Awards and a WebAward for Outstanding Achievement.
Scope: Strategy, Creative Direction, Concept, Web Design
Process Insight:
I created the illustrations below to help guide the campaign’s art direction. During the pandemic—a time marked by widespread blame and division—I was intentional about ensuring the people we depicted couldn’t be identified by region, gender, or race. By using silhouettes, we not only preserved global anonymity but also underscored the gravity of the subject matter.
